Ultrasonic water meters supplied by Metalsin: DN15 Map16 T50, E1 R250 H/V, IP 68, LoRaWAN.
The ultrasonic water meter is a fully electronic, next-generation device based on the ultrasonic time-difference principle. By comparing the transit time of ultrasonic signals traveling with and against the water flow, it accurately calculates flow rate and total consumption. With no moving parts or flow-blocking elements, the meter maintains long-term reliability and consistent performance even in water containing impurities or sediment. Available in sizes from DN15 to DN200, it offers excellent flexibility for residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial applications.
An ultrasonic water meter operates based on the transit-time difference principle. It uses two ultrasonic transducers that alternately transmit and receive sound waves both with and against the direction of water flow. When water is moving, the signal traveling in the same direction as the flow reaches the receiver faster, while the one traveling against the flow arrives more slowly. By measuring this time difference, the meter calculates the flow velocity and, combined with the pipe’s cross-sectional area, determines both instantaneous flow and cumulative volume. Because the internal structure has no moving parts or flow-blocking components, it is unaffected by suspended particles, impurities, or magnetic interference, ensuring long service life, high accuracy, stable performance, minimal pressure loss, and maintenance-free operation. Real-time data is accumulated by the built-in Hall sensor and electronic system, and optional communication modules such as NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, 4G Cat.1, RS-485, or M-Bus support remote monitoring, data transmission, and intelligent management.

The ultrasonic water meter delivers high precision with wide range ratios of R250 and R400, and supports extremely low initial flow rates down to 0.0015 m³/h, ensuring accurate measurement at both low and high flows. With no moving parts, it avoids mechanical wear and remains stable over time, unaffected by magnetic interference or friction. Its fully sealed IP68-rated design allows continuous operation even when fully submerged in water. The meter offers long service life with battery options that can operate for more than eight years, and users can choose between internal battery power or an external power supply. In addition, the device supports installation at any angle without requiring parameter adjustments or causing pressure loss.
Ultrasonic water meters support both wireless (NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, 4G Cat.1) and wired (RS-485, M-Bus) communication, and come with onboard data storage, a real-time Hall sensor for flow accumulation, infrared configuration, and alarms for low battery and valve faults. The built-in display provides key information such as current reading, battery status, balance, and valve position. Beyond the meters themselves, complete smart metering solutions—including gateways or concentrators and free management software—are available to support remote monitoring, billing, and large-scale deployments in smart cities, utilities, residential communities, and industrial environments.

Ultrasonic water meters are widely used in domestic and commercial metering, central air-conditioning and HVAC systems, municipal and utility networks, industrial water management, and smart billing or prepaid applications. Their low pressure loss, high accuracy, and fast data transmission make them suitable for both retrofit projects and new installations. Compared with traditional mechanical meters, they provide higher precision, a wider dynamic range, and consistent performance without wear, clogging, or maintenance issues. They offer longer service life with lower lifecycle costs, can be installed in any orientation without calibration or preset parameters, and maintain strong resistance to corrosion, pollution, and external interference.
