Metalsin’s Mobile Containerized SWRO for Sea Sand Washing is a modular desalination terminal specifically engineered for global construction and land reclamation projects. By integrating high-performance Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology into a standard shipping container, the system offers exceptional Mobility and Plug-and-Play functionality.

A typical mobile containerized seawater RO desalination system for sea sand washing plants, with a output capacity of 160 tons per hour. Advance DOW reverse osmosis membranes & Siemens motors.
In sea sand washing applications, raw marine sand contains high concentrations of chloride ions, which can lead to steel reinforcement corrosion if used directly in construction. Our system draws seawater on-site and converts it into high-quality industrial freshwater for sand spraying and rinsing, ensuring the final product meets international construction standards (such as BS or ASTM). The containerized design facilitates rapid relocation as the project progresses while providing a robust physical barrier against corrosive coastal salt spray.
Based on industry-leading standards and technical specifications, the SWRO desalination system features the following core performance parameters:

Core components of SWRO system: control cabinet, piping system, dosing tanks, rinse tanks.
As illustrated in the process flow chart, Metalsin‘s containerized SWRO system for sea sand washing projects first draws seawater via an intake pump and injects flocculants through a Dosing System before entering the Multi-media Filter. This stage effectively intercepts large particles and suspended solids. The water then flows into a Precision Filter for secondary deep filtration, ensuring the water quality entering the membrane modules meets strict turbidity requirements. Throughout this process, an integrated CIP (Clean-In-Place) system remains on standby for routine membrane maintenance.

In the core desalination stage, the water is pressurized by a motor-driven High-Pressure Pump and enters the RO System. To optimize energy efficiency, the system is specifically configured with an Energy Recovery Device (ERD), which recaptures residual pressure from the brine discharge. Ultimately, the seawater is physically separated into high-purity Product Water that meets sand-washing standards, while excess salts are safely expelled through the discharge line. This entire flow achieves high automation from raw seawater to industrial-grade freshwater.
Chloride salts in sea sand cause steel corrosion and trigger “Alkali-Aggregate Reactions,” which severely threaten the structural lifespan of buildings. By using an SWRO system for washing, chloride levels in sea sand are reduced to safe levels (typically below 0.01%). This allows cost-effective sea sand to be converted into compliant construction sand, effectively solving the scarcity of inland river sand.
Our mobile containerized systems have been extensively deployed in land reclamation and infrastructure projects in the Philippines, Indonesia, the UAE (Dubai), Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Singapore. These regions possess abundant sea sand but lack freshwater; our equipment enables them to utilize local materials, drastically reducing logistical costs.
